Time: 7:00 am - 3:00 pm
Even though Cristo Rey Newark (CRN) has gone the way of Essex Catholic—shut down by the Archdiocese of Newark—the annual Eagle Open will still take place as rescheduled on Monday, August 17, 2020, at Ashbrook Golf Club in Scotch Plains, N.J. Since this annual event has supported CRN in the past, all proceeds, which will be collected by the Essex Catholic High School Foundation, will be used to assist displaced CRN students from the classes of 2021, 2022 and 2023 who are trying to enroll in another New Jersey Catholic high school to continue their education. The more funds we can raise, the more displaced CRN students we can assist. These young people have been hurt by the rather abrupt decision to shut down CRN—the only Archdiocese of Newark high school so-affected.
The Eagle Open price is $175 per golfer. Sponsorships are available: $5,000 for a large ad banner (includes four free players); $1,500 for a small ad banner (includes one free player); $1,250 for beer cart sponsorship (includes one free player); $2,000 for breakfast sponsorship (includes two free players); $2,500 for lunch sponsorship (includes two free players); $250-$1,000 hole sponsorship ($1,000 includes one free player). There is a $100 entry fee for the putting contest, which begins at 8:15 a.m. SAVE THE DATE and start to align your group for the Class Year Challenge, as we will again be looking for the ’60s-’70s-’80s-’90s+ challenge matches and awards! We are setting up an online registration and payment option. In the meantime, download and fill out entry form and mail it with a check made out to “Essex Catholic H.S. Foundation Inc.,” c/o Bill Vantuono ’77, 50 Valentine St., Unit 19A, Monmouth Beach, NJ, 07750.
PLEASE NOTE: We are assuming that the current New Jersey COVID-19 Rule that restricts golf to twosomes—“Groups will be limited to two players, unless a foursome consists of immediate family members, caretakers, household members or romantic partners”—will be lifted by the August event. Thank you, and be safe. Information and additional sponsorship opportunities: Greg Stewart ’71, email@example.com; Bob Heugle ’71, firstname.lastname@example.org; Nick Grosch ’71, email@example.com.
